RISING MOON
Twilight cools
the desert air.
The voice has left me,
in aching despair.
Thoughts aswirl,
it’s hard to think.
Each minute weighs,
my heart sinks.
Empty winds,
my steady cries.
I search beneath
an ebon sky.
Red rocks whisper,
hints of regret.
Shadows deepen,
the hard night’s set.
In the desert,
where stars reveal.
The smallness
I always feel.
Memories weave,
complex thread
A tangled knot,
inside my head.
